Good Morning Yoga with Mary

January 21 @ 9:30 am 10:45 am

Class Description:

This practice will revitalize your body, relax your mind, increase your energy and reduce stress. Simple movements will increase the range of motion of the major joints and improve flexibility. This gentle approach is ideal for those looking for a less strenuous experience. Mary brings something new to the class every week, making each class interesting and providing a focus on a variety of body parts and muscles.

All levels of skill welcome. No experience necessary. Namaste.

Hatha yoga is the most widely practiced form of yoga in the United States. Hatha uses bodily postures (asanas), breathing (pranayama), and meditation (dhyana) with the goal of bringing about a supple body and a peaceful mind. There are nearly 200 hatha yoga postures with hundreds of variations. Hatha classes tend to focus on one pose at a time with rest in between. In contrast, Vinyasa or “Flow” yoga string poses together to make a sequence with the breath connecting one posture to the next. A sun salutation sequence would be considered a flow yoga sequence.

About the Instructor:

Mary Dylik began her yoga journey more than 20 years ago, when she started practicing as a low-impact way to cross-train, and aid muscle recovery from long-distance cycling. She found much more than just a way to stretch! She found a way for anyone to maintain a strong body, but more importantly – a strong and flexible mind. In 2007, Mary completed a one semester class offered through Hilbert College and the Himalayan Institute, focusing on the philosophy of yoga. She completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training at the Sivananda Ashram in Woodbourne, NY in 2013, and began teaching regularly in East Aurora. Mary completed a 500-hour teacher training program in 2018 at the Himalayan Institute in Buffalo, NY. Mary is also a graphic designer, and resides in Hamburg with her husband, Jason, and energetic dog, Mickey.
