Intro to Meditation with Julia

$12 per class or $40 for 4 class series

This four week introduction to meditation will give you the skill base to begin your meditation practice.  In this course, you will learn the basics: a comfortable sitting posture, diaphragmatic breathing, relaxation methods, and essential concentration techniques that direct us to an experience of inner radiance and tranquility.  Our time together will start with a 10 minute relaxation practice followed by light stretching, we will then discuss the philosophy that supports the inward journey of self-reflection, and then the techniques of concentration and meditation. We will end every session with a 15 minute meditation.

You will be asked to practice regularly on your own in between sessions to build capacity and thoughtful experience. This course work will progressively guide you towards a deeper understanding and experience of meditation and the reflective tools of meditation to embrace your life’s purpose and position. You will learn what the essential tools are for setting up a meditation practice and this will include suggestions around philosophical content to support the work.

The work presented is based on the Himalayan Institute of Yoga Science and Philosophies’ teaching methods.

About the Instructor:

Julia Kress has been teaching Health and Wellness for over 30 years. Her experience in yoga classes in the early 1990’s at the Himalayan Institute of Buffalo led her to make a radical shift in lifestyle and move to the Institute’s educational facility in Honesdale, P.A. where she lived for almost 8 years studying and teaching yoga and Holistic Health. Julia has a B.A. in Exercise Science from the University at Buffalo, is a Certified Yoga Instructor at the Advanced 500 Level, E-RYT500, has certification as a Yoga Therapist, and Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist.

Virtual classes are offered Live on Zoom plus a link will be provided to view the recording post-class.  The link to the recording will be available only until the next LIVE class is held. The recording will be posted within 24 hours after the live class has concluded. Virtual class registration will be charged only one time for this class, using one or both options; live online and/or recorded.
